Q. Is this site completely free?

A. NJ-Dates is a free/paid site. There are additional features and upgrades, such as Gold Membership and Credits which will give you access to all of the sites features such as web chat and speed dating but you can still search, send and receive messages as a free member.

Q. Why would I use credits?

A. This is great for people who want to use any or all of the premium features, but don’t plan to use the site very often. If you’re only going to use the site every few weeks, then a monthly membership wouldn’t make much sense, but with credits you can “pay as you go”. The credits never expire, so if you don’t use the site for let’s say three months, your credits are still here. Although, you do earn credits for signing in, referring a friend to the site and more.

Q. How do I create a profile?

A. Creating and posting a profile only takes a few minutes. Login and click on My Profile on the top menu then select Edit Profile on the right side of the screen. From there you can go to various profile pages and complete them. Then click Save when you're done.

Q. How do I customize my profile?

Use this area to customize your profile. You don’t have to use this area but if you want to give your profile your own personal touch, then here you can change the layout by moving components about. You can also change the profile background color by clicking on the Background tab and selecting a new color. Preview Profile by Clicking on the Preview tab to check how others will see your profile. Remember that your profile is the first impression you make, so put your best foot forward. Be honest, have fun and stay positive. What you write gives you the chance to speak directly to other NJ Dates members about you.

Q. Is online social networking safe?

A. Online social networking is no more or no less safe than any other kind of networking. Most tips are just common sense and should be used in any dating/meeting situation. The most important ones are to meet in a safe public place and also to make sure you`re not feeling pressured in any way.

Q. What are the odds of meeting someone I`m interested in on NJ-Dates?

A. Our goal is to broaden your social horizon, and our belief is that by meeting a variety of people, you will find that special someone. We give you the opportunities to meet people by taking advantage of the forums and writing blogs and joining chat rooms and speed dating and using web chat. Keep in mind that meeting that special someone may not happen right away. It takes time to build trust and to develop relationships. Although we feel that you have a better chance of meeting people on NJ Dates simply because you’re getting involved and being active and by doing that you will be meeting more people.

Q. How do I cancel my membership?

A. To cancel your membership, just visit the Edit Profile section in your member home page, and click on “Unregister”. We of course wish you the best, but if things don`t work out, we’re still here.

A. You can chat with or email other NJ Dates members as soon as you join us.

Q. How do I remain anonymous?

A. We use a double-blind email system to preserve your privacy. It replaces your real email address with your username, then forwards your messages to the members you’re emailing.

Please note:

If you reply to an email from another NJ-Dates member directly from your personal email program, make sure you've turned off your auto-signatures and auto-responders. If you don’t, you could unintentionally send your personal information along with your message. Read through your responses to make sure your actual email address does not appear. Also, be sure not to carbon copy “CC” or forward an email to yourself when you send a message from your own email program.

Q. Where do I receive emails from other members?

A. All emails from other members are sent to the email address you registered with. A copy is also available for viewing in your NJ-Dates Mailbox. Also, due to your email providers automatic blocking and filtering, receiving your email is not guaranteed, or can be delayed. Not to worry, though. All of your emails sent and received within the last 30 days can be viewed in your NJ-Dates Mailbox.

Q. How do I stop someone from emailing me?

A. You can stop someone from emailing you by going to the Blocking Section in Account Settings at the top of every page. Just enter the username of the person you want to block, and select the appropriate box for email blocking.

Q. I just want to search for people. Why should I create a profile?

A. Filling out a profile will allow other members who are interested in you find you, you never know, you may just be interested in them. Plus when you’re in chat rooms or speed dates or post something on a forum that interests someone it’s a great way for them to learn more about you (and you about them) to see if you are compatible enough to continue further.

Q. How do I update or edit my profile after it's been posted?

A. Edit your profile whenever you want by logging in and clicking on My Profile at the top of any page.

Q. Can I hide my profile so other members can't see it?

A. You can take a break by hiding your profile at any time. Just log in and click on My Profile at the top of any page, and make the appropriate selection under Visibility Options. But remember…you never know when that one person might be looking for you!

Q. Why should I post a photo to my profile?

A. Members with photos get more attention than those without one. We recommend you use multiple photos of yourself.

Q. How do I change my email address or password?

A. Login first. Click on the Edit Profile menu link at the top of the screen. From there you can change your email address in the About Me page. To change your password, click on the Change Password link. You have to provide your old password, and new password.
